            Actually, lots of young french women participated in D-Day. Only problem were that their participation consisted solely of female snipers, firing at the allied forces in an attempt to defend their German lovers. I got that info from a D-day book of personal letters from the soldiers themselves, and those snipers were the only thing the common allied soldier feared more than the German 88 cannons. A lot of letters mention them, so it must have been happening a lot. Another "fun fact" history classes won't ever mention. Somehow I can't imagine the femmies holding that up as an example of "empowerment" or "gender equality", but then again, I wouldn't be too surprised if they actually did...
