  • The importance of the "report" button

I want to thank members who take the time to report posts that bother them and bring them to the attention of admins and mods. We can't be everywhere and read everything so, even if we don't respond right away or take the action that you recommend, your reports are an important part of making sure we know what is happening on the forum.

The key to keeping this forum at minimal moderation is to have the members participate in the process.

Reporting a post that disturbs you is very important to us. Don't assume we saw it.

I reported a post that claimed to be links to watch and download shows and movies online. Those are people trying to get us into legal trouble, right?
Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

I'm curious whether we should be reporting these bots or just leave because they are so obviously spam? I mean it would be kind of stupid if we clogged the report queue (I have no idea how it actually works so forgive me if that's a stupid assumption) and bury reports on posts that are made by real people that are actually abusive or harmful in some way.

Spam is a massive pain in the ass from a Moderator / Admin stand point , and just frustrating from a member standpoint.

          Several methods of attack.
          - - Many spammers on the site sit dormant for about a month or two before actually posting. There use to be a auto-clean for accounts that had not made a post within their first 2 weeks of joining the forum.

          - - Automatically blocking anything with a ICQ number. oddly enough nearly every spammer users them.

          - - Good old fashion leg work, this one kinda sucks

          - - Block Tor Exit nodes - common for spammers to use Tor

          - - rely on the community to report and deal that way.

Each option has its pro's and con's obviously however it is something we probably need to address

            LOL are you kidding me?

            Buy labetalol online
On an anti-ad bot thread? What really gets me though is that the forum won't let me use the "report" button!

Update: BOT gone! Yay the moderators (and the forum by default) win again!
